🎄 Austrian Christmas Celebration Box 🎁
A Cake, a Bottle, and a Bag of Christmas Cookies
The simplest good Christmas gift we make. One of our handmade Austrian cakes, a bag of Christmas cookies, and a bottle of Austrian wine — enough to turn an evening into something, without the scale of a full hamper.
Choose the cake and the colour of the wine. The Sachertorte is the one most people send; the Linzer Torte suits anyone who likes their cake spiced rather than chocolatey; the Stollen is for the household that will slice it thin with butter over several mornings.
Our wines come directly from small family producers in Austria and are sold nowhere else in the UK.
What's in the box — at a glance
In every Celebration Box:
- 1 × Kipferl Austrian Christmas Cookies (Weihnachtskekserl) — handmade in our bakery in Islington
- 1 × bottle of Austrian wine — Grüner Veltliner DAC, Zuschmann-Schöfmann (white) or Zweigelt Neusiedlersee DAC, Markus Iro (red)
Plus the cake you choose:
- Sachertorte — a small Christmas Sachertorte
- Linzer Torte — a small Linzer Torte
- Stollen — a Tiroler Christstollen
The three cakes
Christmas Sachertorte — Austria's most famous cake: a light, crumbly chocolate sponge with two layers of apricot jam under a crisp chocolate glaze, finished with festive decoration. Loved the world over, and the safe choice if you don't know their taste.
Linzer Torte — from Linz, Austria's third city, and claimed as the oldest named cake in the world: the recipe was written down in 1653. Short almond pastry with redcurrant jam, cinnamon and cloves, crunchier and spicier than our other cakes.
Tiroler Christstollen — from an old Tyrolean recipe, packed with candied fruit, nuts and marzipan. Austrian Stollen is drier and firmer than the German style, meant for thin slices and good butter.
The two wines
White — Grüner Veltliner DAC, Zuschmann-Schöfmann. Austria's national white grape: crisp, dry and gently peppery. It goes with almost everything on a Christmas table, which is why it is the one we send most.
Red — Zweigelt Neusiedlersee DAC, Markus Iro. Zweigelt is Austria's most widely planted red grape, and Markus Iro grows it in Gols, at the northern tip of the Neusiedlersee. Hand-picked, twelve days on the skins and aged in large old oak: dark cherry, forest berries and liquorice, juicy and elegant with fine tannins. Very good with cold cuts, cheese and roast pork.

Please note that all our baked products are made fresh in our little bakery in Islington, where we handle ingredients used across the whole range. While we do everything possible to minimise the risk of cross-contamination, we are a very small operation without fully separated production lines, so cross-contamination cannot be completely excluded.
In our bakery we use products containing allergens like dairy, nuts, gluten (wheat), egg, sulphites and soya.
If your allergy is severe, please consider carefully whether you choose to consume our food. If you want to be 100% safe, the only option is not to consume any of our products.
