White Wines
Austrian white wines have enjoyed an incredible success story over the last 20 years, both in and outside of Austria. The Central European climate with its warm days and cold nights creates ideal conditions for berries to ripen, producing crisp and fruity, dry white wines with pleasant alcohol levels and unique flavour profiles. Grüner Veltliner, the signature indigenous white grape variety, makes up 1/3 of Austrian wine production on its own and can be found in well stocked restaurants and in the specialist wine trade all over the world now. The fertile soils in our alpine homeland also produce exemplary wines from well-known international grape varieties such as Riesling, Sauvignon Blanc and Chardonnay.
Our Austrian wines come from small, independent winemakers. We stock all the typical indigenous Austrian grapes like Grüner Veltliner, Zweigelt and Blaufränkisch, as well as popular wines like Sauvignon Blanc, Pinot Gris and Chardonnay. Most of them are organic or biodynamic, and they are available only at Kipferl for UK distribution.
