Another historical delicacy from the times of the Austro-Hungarian Empire and named after its inventor, Hungarian chef József C. Dobos, this caramel cake Dobos Torte was introduced at the National General Exhibition of Budapest in 1885, and Emperor Franz Joseph I and Empress Elisabeth were among the first to taste it.
A sponge cake layered with wonderfully smooth chocolate buttercream and topped with lots of caramel. A simple but elegant caramel cake Dobos Torte is for every occasion.

"It was Perfect."
"Loved by all"
"Very nice cake , appreciated by guests easy to cut and lasted well"
"The Dobos Torte is absolutely fantastic, it;s funny as I seem to become more popular with my friends if they find out I have ordered one! Beautiful moist sponge with buttercream filling, chocolate around the sides and finished with a soft caramel on top. I have had most of the cakes that Hubert and his staff make and this one is near the top of the cake tree. I have it sent to the grimy north of England and it is well packaged and arrives the day after it is sent even in my remote location."
"The cake was delicious but it didn’t look as good as it should have. In transit it obviously got bashed around. That was disappointing"
"the cake arrived well packaged - and was huge! its very rich- so a little went a long way. shared with my sister and her family. everyone said how lovely it was !"
"A delicious cake which was enjoyed by everyone at the birthday party!"
"It was nice"
"As a Hungarian, I was rather disappointed in your cake. Not only that the top was wrong, but the cake was not fresh! Chocolate filling and cake slices were not equal, but some were rather dry! The fact that even the youngstairs left it tells you a lot! On the other hand the poppyseed cake was very good, not dry, we all enjoyed it. As it was an 80th celebratory birthday, the local wines were excellent, the Gemischter one my favorite! Equally the kipferls were fresh, very enjoyable! Hope one day can try some of your cake locally! Regards Kati McWhor"
All our cakes are made fresh to order in our London kitchen and have at least 3 days shelf life when they arrive. Less creamy ones like the Linzer or Sachertorte will last even longer (over 6 days)
Once the temperature rises over the summer months in the UK, we begin to send ice packs in parcels to keep cakes cool.
Most of our cakes can be frozen as a whole or in pieces. We do not recommend freezing the creamy cakes like Esterhazy, Maronitorte and Cheesecake though.
Yes, please refrigerate all cakes to ensure they stay fresh for as long as possible.
