Christmas Wine Box - Three Austrian Reds
Three unique, classic Austrian red wines – a wonderful gift for every wine lover!
Zweigelt Classic, Fischer, Austrian Red Wine:
Fischer’s classic Zweigelt is made only from handpicked grapes from the Fasangarten vineyard. Zweigelt is THE signature Austrian red grape variety, Dr. Zweigelt created it by crossing Blaufränkisch and St, Laurent exactly 100 years ago. Fischer’s high trained vines average 38 years in age yielding only 49hl/ha. Fermented 7 days in stainless steel and matured in old, large oak. Ruby in colour, typical ‘Zweigelt‘ red and sour cherry flavours, fresh and fruity, some spice and a hint of tannin at the finish.
Blaufränkisch Gold Reserve, Kirnbauer: The rare Blaufränkisch grape thrives in Mittelburgenland - black fruit like currants, cherries and blackberry, thyme and cloves. Aged 16 months in barrique contribute to soft tannins and harmonic finish. One of the best single grape Austrian Red Wines. Enjoy with venison or a good steak!
St. Laurent Classic, Fischer: Another unique Austrian grape variety, related to the Pinot family. Ruby red with notes of sour cherry and prunes, smooth and chocolatey finish, organic. From the famous red wine village Soosz South of Baden bei Wien. A difficult grape variety to grow but gaining in well-deserved popularity again. Wonderful with roast chicken.
