Delicious, fruity and moist. Kept
"Delicious, fruity and moist. Kept in the fridge so lasted well, not that it lasted for long!"
This traditional cake comes from Südtirol (South Tyrol), the German-speaking Alpine region in northern Italy where Austrian and Italian food cultures meet. In this mountainous region, buckwheat has been used for centuries as a staple ingredient, valued for its hearty, nutty flavour and naturally gluten-free qualities. Lingonberries, which grow wild in the local forests, have long been paired with buckwheat in Alpine baking for their gently tart, refreshing note.
Our Südtiroler Buchweizentorte, the gluten free buckwheat cake, is light yet satisfying, with a delicate, nutty crumb that’s beautifully balanced by two layers of bright, fruity lingonberries. It’s the kind of cake you might enjoy in a mountain café after a long walk in the Alps – simple, honest, and quietly indulgent.
Naturally gluten free and full of Alpine character, this gluten free buckwheat cake is perfect if you’re looking for something a little different: not overly sweet, wonderfully aromatic, and deeply rooted in tradition. A true taste of Südtirol – rustic, elegant, and utterly moreish.

"Absolutely amazing cakes with the real taste of Central Europe! Very different from the cakes in the UK so I advise people to try them! Our favourite is the Esterhazy torte which is very rich and you cannot get anywhere else in the UK. The just added Sudtiroler is amazing. Whilst travelling on the area I never had the chance to have some but I am going to stick with this here anyway."
"Delicious cake. Nutty and not sweet on the tongue. Perfect."
"Cheers to Hubert and the team. A 0Absolutely wonderful torte and a little different. Give it a go you won't be disappointed."
"Superb! Enjoyed by all the family - gluten free humans and Non gluten free ones! And our dog! Kipferl does THE best cakes in the world -including Austria! Also superb service."
"Delicious cake and not too sweet. Does not give the "must have another piece" that sweeter ultra processed cakes can have, yet fully satisfies the need for a sweet treat or desert."
"Excellent! Delicious moist cake Thank you"
"I bought this as a gift for a friend, and the feedback was that it was very, very delicious"
"Fantastic cake, took me right back to the Tyrol !"
"Different and delicious. Kept well."
All our cakes are made fresh to order in our London kitchen and have at least 3 days shelf life when they arrive. Less creamy ones like the Linzer or Sachertorte will last even longer (over 6 days)
Once the temperature rises over the summer months in the UK, we begin to send ice packs in parcels to keep cakes cool.
Most of our cakes can be frozen as a whole or in pieces. We do not recommend freezing the creamy cakes like Esterhazy, Maronitorte and Cheesecake though.
Yes, please refrigerate all cakes to ensure they stay fresh for as long as possible.
