We are very happy to introduce winegrower Martina Weber from Deutsch Schützen in the small wine region Eisenberg to our portfolio. Martina cultivates 5 hectares in this idyllic, hilly region in South Burgenland near the Hungarian border. Martina’s focus is on full bodied and complex Blaufränkisch based wines, the signature variety in the region, but also fresh Welschriesling and surprisingly Bordeaux varieties.

Her Blaufränkisch Centauros straight away impresses with prominent cherry, herb and spicy aromas. Let it develop in the glass and you get more of the forest berries, some bitter chocolate and smokiness on the nose and palate.

Harmonic, precise and elegant – pure enjoyment!

Weinbau Weber in Deutsch-Schützen, Eisenberg, Südburgenland

About Weinbau Weber

The Weber family have made wine in Deutsch-Schützen, in the Südburgenland corner of Austria near the Hungarian border, for four generations. What began with a great-great-grandfather tending a few rows behind a thatched wooden cellar is today a small family estate run hand in hand: Martina, the young winemaker who trusts her instinct; Alfred, the disciplined senior winemaker and teacher; Helga, the heart of the house; and Isabella, sharp both in the vineyard and at the till. Every step — from winter pruning to bottling — passes through their hands.

Their vineyards sit on the mineral-rich clay slopes of Deutsch-Schützen — the Ried Ratschen, Weinberg and Bründlgfangen sites — bordered by oak forests to the north and open to the sunlit Hungarian plain to the south-east. This warm Pannonian climate, cooled by evening breezes, is what gives their signature Blaufränkisch its aromatic depth and structure, while a thick brown-earth topsoil over a layer of green schist keeps old vines nourished through hot summers.

Sustainability runs through the estate — solar power, light-touch farming, and a quiet respect for the ecosystem their ancestors farmed before them. The result: lively, authentic, characterful wines that speak clearly of their place.
