A selection of the finest Austrian Red Wines, from the indigenous Zweigelt and Blaufränkisch to the finest Cuvees ever made in Austria.
Zweigelt Ferabam Fischer:
Fischer’s premium Zweigelt, ripe red and sour cherry, fine tobacco, juicy and opulent. From the best Zweigelt parcels around the landmark fir tree (Ferabam) and aged for 15 months in French barriques. Zweigelt is Austria’s signature red wine variety, created a hundred years ago by Dr. Zweigelt by crossing Blaufränkisch and St. Laurent, resulting in a fruity combination with a distinct sour cherry note.
Zweigelt Rubin Carnuntum, Netzl: Zweigelt is the signature grape for the wine region Carnuntum, named after the major Roman settlement, East of Vienna. Only Zweigelt meeting strict quality criteria can be named Rubin Carnuntum. Dark cherry, peppery spice, juicy, elegant and with soft tannins, this is a charming and characterful Zweigelt. Goes well with beef, lamb and game.
Blaufränkisch Gold Reserve, Kirnbauer: The most popular indigenous Austrian grape. Ruby red with a fine aroma of sweet Blackberry and Redcurrant, wonderful mineral note with nicely integrated tannins and a very harmonious finish. Ripened for 16 months in elegant Troncais-Barriques. 4.0 rating on vivino.
K+K Cuvee: a spicy cuveé of Blaufränkisch, Zweigelt, Cabernet, Merlot and Syrah from the Burgenland region. A warm and silky red wine for excellent value, ruby red in colour with blackberry and sour cherry aromas. Fantastic with grilled or roast lamb.
Zerberus Zuschmann: Red Cuvee of Zweigelt, Cabernet Sauvignon and Syrah. Dark, ripe berries, juicy, notes of Eucalyptus and tobacco, velvety finish. A perfect match with well-seasoned steak or lamb dish.
Anna-Christina Ried Bärnreiser: Netzl’s famous Cuvee of Zweigelt, Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot from the warm Bärnreiser hillside. Dark cherry and blackberry, cassis and white pepper. Spicy, silky tannins, complexity and length. A worthy Austrian alternative to Bordeaux blends!
Decant and enjoy with beef, game with rich gravies or blue cheeses and walnuts. Fantastic with grilled or roast lamb.
